Did you guess soft serve ice cream?

You’d be wrong…

It’s chicken… well sort of…

It’s actually mechanically separated chicken made though a process called AMR – Advanced Meat Recovery and is lurking in your hot dog, bologna, chicken nuggets, pepperoni, salami, jerky etc…

Using even more than the squeek, to get every ounce of profit out of chickens, turkeys, and pigs.  Machines take what is left over after all the useable meat has been removed and extrude the paste you see pictured. The paste is then bleached and flavored like chicken (or pork, etc) and made into products.  I have even seen tubes of Mechanically Separated Chicken in a low income area grocery store.  If you break open a chicken nugget and find paste rather than meat that flakes like chicken should, you’ve likely got MSC – which in my book isn’t really food at all.

In a nation where more than half of our citizens are over weight and medical costs are through the roof, why are we tolerating fake food?  Demand better for yourself and your family!  Check the label, and leave the fake food on the shelf.
