Time Flies When You Are Doing Good!
Ten years ago if a woman went to the ER with symptoms of a heart attack, she was likely to be sent home after being told it was anxiety, gas, or “all in her head.”
Today, through the efforts of the Heart Truth Campaign through the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and Go Red for Women through the American Heart Association, women are more likely to receive the care they need!
It has been my honor to travel the country speaking at more Go Red, Heart Truth, and women’s wellness events than I can count over the years. We’ve accomplished so much in the past decade (as demonstrated in this infographic) – most importantly 330 fewer women die each day! But our work isn’t done.
This Friday, February 1st, is National Wear Red Day. Please pull out your red to celebrate 10 years of making a difference in the lives of women with heart disease.
Then make a difference yourself:
Ask a woman you care about if she knows her numbers (blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar) and encourage her to take charge of her heart health
Make a donation to continue research, education, and advocacy.
