What makes you happy? Today, March 20, 2014, is International Day of Happiness!

The United Nations have come together to reclaim happiness:

Advertisers tell us that happiness comes from buying and consuming their products. Celebrities and the media pretend it comes with beauty & fame. And politicians claim that nothing matters more than growing the economy. We could point to many studies showing how wrong this all is: lasting happiness does not come from what we consume, how we look or how much we earn. But, let’s be honest, you probably knew that already! Have you had enough of being made to feel poor in a world that is rich with opportunities to be happy?

One of the suggested strategies to reclaim happiness is to search through your photos and post moments of happiness with the hashtag: #HappinessDay – what a great idea.

My husband and I took a few minutes today to look through last summer’s photos.  It has been a long, cold winter and looking at pictures of warm days on a lake that isn’t frozen made me smile.  A lot.

I’m posting some of my favorites today:

Dogs on boats.  Kids and dogs on boats. Kissing my awesome husband.

So… what makes you happy?

Join in the fun – post a picture on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.  Tag it with #HappinessDay (feel free to tag me or share this post too).  You can leave a comment below as well.

It is amazing how good it feels!

Reflecting on happy times is a great way to manage stress, and that is great for your heart.  Happy International Day of Happiness!
