Did you see the news today reporting wine is better for you than exercise?

Me too.

Here is the thing: That’s not what the study says.

The truth is that older people who drink moderately statistically live longer than non-drinkers. They are 18% less likely to die prematurely.

People who exercise 15 to 45 minutes per day are 11% less likely to die prematurely than non-exercisers.

That doesn’t mean you should stop exercising and start drinking.

Boiling medical research down to sound bites often gives people the permission to avoid the work of protecting their health.

Exercise is essential to good health, and a high quality of life.  The protective benefits of exercise cannot be replaced with a glass of wine… of if only that was true!

When you read a media report that seems too good to be true, do what I do.  Trace the story back to the source and find act only on the facts.
