What happened to recess?
Adults don’t often get recess, but on Thursday morning I did…
Text Message: Opera Kickball 9 & 9:30. Don’t tell the girls!
There it was. An invitation to play.
I had a list a mile long of things I should do – but I really wanted to play!
So I did.
The text was from the fabulous music teacher at my girls’ school. Opera Kickball combines playing outside (on the only spring-like day we’ve had all month) and singing in an overly dramatic way – two of my favorite things!
So off to the school I went, and it was fabulous. We laughed and sang, ran and sang, kicked and sang… and I felt great. Laughter, nature, and exercise are all great for reducing stress. Hanging with my girls, their classmates and one phenomenal teacher/role model – well you can’t get better than that!
So when was the last time you accepted an invitation to play?
Adults can be SO serious – don’t turn down an opportunity to play a little and reduce your stress. Time doing something you enjoy isn’t wasted, it is essential to managing your stress and living with passion.
As I wrote in my recent article about being Heartstrong, letting the real, fun, whimsical person inside bubble up to the surface is important.
Play is for everyone – not just the kids!
Wanna play?
