No more failed New Year’s Resolutions!

Make a daily goal instead.

How many times have you resolved to lose weight, exercise more, or eat better on New Year’s Day only to beat yourself up later for failing?  Resolutions are often too large and too vague to be effective.  This year do something different.

This year make a small, simple daily goal instead of a resolution!

Think about it.

What if you simply decided to take a walk every day, or eat a healthy breakfast, or drink one less soda?  Just one small thing you could do every day to improve your health – it could make a large difference over the course of a year.

  • Set your sights on something you can achieve every day.  Seriously, you aren’t going to the gym EVERY day, right?  Don’t set yourself up to fail.  Instead choose a goal you can accomplish.
  • Set up rewards for achieving your daily goal. If you make your daily goal for a week in a row – celebrate! Have a special treat, schedule a massage, or sleep in.  Give yourself something to look forward to and to act as an incentive.
  • Don’t beat yourself up. The beauty of a daily goal is it resets every day.  If you missed today, start again tomorrow.

Remember:

Life is not about perfection.

It’s about moving in the right direction!

Get moving in the right direction – toward a healthier you – in 2013!

What will you set as your daily goal?  Please share it in a comment below!
