Now you can have your spaghetti, and eat it too!
Barley, the grain we love in beer, packs fiber and antioxidants into your favorite pasta according to a report in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. Barley is finding it’s way into bakery items and other foods in an effort to create “functional foods” or foods that are suplimented with healthy additives. Does that mean we’ll be able someday to have our cake, and eat it too (and have it be healthy)? Probably not – cake is still cake. But, pasta with more fiber and nutrients is a healthy, and delicious, choice!
